'Scrubs' star John C. McGinley is a newlywed, according to his spokeswoman, who announced the wedding on Monday.
The 47 year old McGinley married yoga instructor Nichole Kessler, 34, on Saturday in Malibu, Calif. according to McGinley's publicist, Nancy Iannios.
The actor proposed to Kessler last August. He also has a nine year old son, Max, from his previous marriage. McGinley was married for two years to Lauren Lambert before divorcing in 1998. This is the first marriage for Kessler.
"I wanted to show her some different flower ideas I had," he said. "And I had the rock in my pocket. I told her, 'Sit down here to see the view of the ocean,' and I said, 'Will you marry me?' and I took out the rock."
The couple got married in front of only about 30 friends and family members. Included in the crowd was McGinley's buddy, actor John Cusack. The wedding was held at the couple's beachfront home in Malibu.
Kessler was accompanied down the aisle by McGinley's son Max. McGinley met Kessler when Max, who has Down Syndrome, began talking to her during a father-son beach trip about three years ago.
Kessler's wedding dress was by Le Spose Di Gio, and she carried a bouquet of Dutch peonies as she walked down the aisle.
The reception included sushi from Nobu Malibu and guests also got to feast on a three tiered wedding cake from Mani's Bakery.
It isn't known whether any 'Scrubs' costars were at the wedding ceremony, but a few were at other events over the weekend.
Zach Braff and Donald Faison were celebrating Braff's 32nd birthday in Las Vegas.
Production on the sixth season of 'Scrubs' has already finished. NBC has not renewed the show yet for season seven, but it will likely return to television even if NBC drops it. ABC has previously announced that it will air a final season of the show if NBC cancels it.
McGinley is best known for playing Dr. Perry Cox on the sitcom 'Scrubs,' which airs on NBC. He has also appeared in films including 'Office Space, 'Are We Done Yet?' and 'Any Given Sunday.'
