Top 5 2009-2010 NFL MVP Candidates

#5. Drew Brees- QB New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees should have won the 2008 MVP award in my opinion. Brees had the best season of any NFL quarterback with his best receiver injured most of the season. The Saints defense lost them games last year, and may hurt Brees' chances of an MVP even if he puts up record numbers. If the Saints can win 10-11 games, Brees will be a serious threat in the MVP race.

#4. Larry Fitzgerald- WR Arizona Cardinals
Larry Fitzgerald has the best chance of any wide receiver to win the NFL MVP. The Chances of a receiver winning the MVP award is slim considering the last time a WR even shared a MVP trophy was in 1990 (Jerry Rice). Fitzgerald is a freak, and Warner is back at QB, so Fitzgerald's potential in 2009 is limitless. Fitzgerald has a solid chance because of his ability, even if it has been nearly 20 years since a WR has won the award.

#3. Peyton Manning- QB Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning has won 3 of the last 6 MVP awards and will contend for another this season. Manning has plenty of weapons at his disposal even though he is without Marvin Harrison. The Colts, as long as they stay healthy, will make the playoffs and could reach another Super Bowl. Peyton Manning will challenge Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson for the 2009 NFL MVP.

#2. Adrian Peterson- RB Minnesota Vikings
The leading rusher from 2008 (1760 yards) will be back in top notch form in 2009. The addition of Brett Favre should open up more opportunities for Peterson to run free. Peterson will once again lead the league in rushing (as long as he stays healthy), and will have an opportunity to win the MVP if the Vikings have a solid season.

#1. Tom Brady- QB New England Patriots
The Patriots will have their man back behind center for the 2009 season. Brady is healthy and has an offense that he could win another Super Bowl with even with questions at running back. Brady is one of the best and most efficient quarterbacks in the league, and has the best coach directing his team to victory. The Patriots should have a very strong regular season, which will increase Brady's chances of winning another MVP. If I had to put my money on one player to win MVP, it would be Tom Brady.
