Is it Ever Too Late to Make Amends in a Relationship?

People who are close to my heart I would do anything to prevent the hurt. Too many times in my life I never had the last chance to say I love you, you made such a difference in my life or something simple, but one of the hardest, good-bye in person before they drew in their last breath.

My mom died due to a massive coronary brought on by her heavy drinking, poor eating habits-pork with every meal she loved her pork. I received a telephone call at eight in the morning from the hospital in Flint, Michigan informing me my mother was on life support and was not expected to live much longer. I lived in Idaho and didn't make it to her bedside to tell her I loved her and I was grateful we finally had made contact and got to know one another. I grew up not knowing who my mother was, I only knew her name. She meant the world to me and I wasn't given the chance to tell her. My only solace is that I had talked with her earlier about two weeks previously and was able to say those three little words that make a difference.

My great-nephews when they died I hadn't spoken with my niece in months and their death came as quite a shock and I didn't get the chance to say how much I loved them and enjoyed being around and a part of their rambunctious antics. I take comfort in the knowledge they always knew I was there for them and I was only a phone call away if they or my niece (their mother) ever needed me.
