American Idol is one of the most popular TV shows, not just in America but worldwide. Since this reality talent competition program first came about in the year 2002, it has become a global phenomenon and has been
considered by superstar wannabes and aspiring singers as a major stepping stone in their dreams of becoming a recording star.

At the start of each season, various auditions are held in key cities in America in the hopes of spotting potential talents that would make it big in Hollywood. Thus, the much popularized sentence "You're going to Hollywood!", which implies that a contestant gets one more opportunity to stay in competition and be that much closer to the prize. And yes, the prize itself is one of the biggest drawing factors to the show, which is a record deal with some of the industry's biggest names, and a hefty prize amount.

The winner is decided by the audience who cast their vote for whom they think deserves the title, The American Idol. The system of picking out winners have been the center of controversy and talk over the recent years, since it implies only popularity as the sole basis for choosing the winners instead of actual talent. Several seasons have past but we have noticed some of the American Idols have come and gone. A few others though have established their presence in the music industry though. Some other finalists made it big too, despite not winning the title.

Here are just a few of those whom I believed were truly deserving of the title:

David Cook

Season 7 was one of the most interesting season for American Idol. It included some of the strongest competitors, which were mostly the male contestants. This season also marked the first time that two of the finalists had the same name - David Archuleta and David Cook. Cook went on to eventually win the American Idol title, due to his stage appeal, irresistible charm, and the best reason of all is his rockstar voice that made him appear to be a seasoned singer. In fact, when David Cook steps onto the stage, the audience becomes totally engrossed with his vocal powers that always demand to be paid attention to.

Kelly Clarkson is without a doubt the great and the most flexible American Idol. Her single, "Because of you," was hard to forget. The song was filled with emotions. Clarkson could also sing different genres with nice spins but personally, the my best American Idol were Fantasia Barinno and Kris Allen. Barinno and Allen were filled with soul when they sing. Enjoyed reading this article, Abby. Continue the great writing style and God Bless!
