The Immortal One Battled the Human Wrecking Machine in the Late 1980s

Throughout his historic career, Hulk Hogan has come across some big challenges like King Kong Bundy, Earthquake, Andre the Giant, and the Undertaker. During the late 1980s, another unstoppable force came his way, by the name of Zeus: The Human Wrecking Machine. These two wrestlers embarked in a multiple month feud that culminated in one of the most underrated steel cage matches in WWE history.

The release of the 1989 movie "No Holds Barred" introduced the evil villain of Zeus. It turned out that fiction would become reality when Zeus was led by manager Flick to attack Hulk Hogan. Zeus claimed that Hogan was stealing his spotlight and he wanted revenge. The attacks eventually led to Zeus's teaming with Macho King Randy Savage. Savage was still feuding with Hogan after their Wrestlemania V bout on the 2 on 1 attack worked in their favor.

Hogan later enlisted in the help of friend Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. Their tandem was known as the Mega Maniacs and they signed an official tag team match against Zeus and Macho King at the 1989 Summerslam. Even with the help of Sensational Sherri, Zeus was unable to defeat Hogan and the Mega Maniacs went out of Summerslam as winners.

Zeus would not give up. He proved his power over multiple opponents until he earned another shot at Hogan during the 1989 Survivor Series. During this event, Zeus teamed up with Ted Dibiase and The Powers of Pain as Hogan teamed up with Demolition and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Even though Hogan came out on top once again, the event ended with a brutal attack on Hogan from Zeus.

Zeus's attacks outside of the ring made WWE officials force the competitors to stay inside and a special pay per match was set-up. Known as "No Holds Barred", Hulk Hogan and Beefcake teamed up once again to battle Macho King and Zeus in a steel cage match.

The match featured a lot of back and forth action with Macho King getting busted open at the hands of Beefcake. With Hogan and Zeus the only two left in the ring, Hogan "Hulked" up and delivered 4 leg drops to the fallen Zeus. He got the pinfall and Zeus was never seen in the WWE again.
