This simple candleholder makes a great Mother's Day gift that almost any child can make. I love this simple craft project because it really does use up a variety of materials almost everyone I know has laying around the house.

These simple candleholders also use tapered candle, which are far less expensive than pillar candles. They also make great ways to decorate a dinner table for a special dinner for mom.

To Make These Simple Mother's Day Gift Tapered Candle Holders You Will Need:

Acrylic paint

Ribbon

Beads (optional)

Hot glue

20 Oz Coke Bottles

Sharp Knife

Scissors

Remove the coke label off of the bottle. You can use a little Windex to help remove any sticky or stubborn parts of the label.

Now, cut off the dome shaped top of the coke bottle. I like to insert my knife, start working my way around until it is removed.

After you have take this top part off you can use you sharp scissors to clean up the edges and make them straight.

Now, your dome and mouth of the coke bottle is going to be the base of the Mother's Day candleholder, so make sure it is stable.

Have the kids use paint pens to draw designs inside of the coke bottle. They can write "Happy Mother's Day!" "I love you Mom!" would also work.

Let this paint dry.

Put the lid on the coke bottle you cut off if you removed it. Now, pour in some acrylic paint and swirl it around unit the entire inside is coated with paint.

Now start running a bead of hot glue or white glue around the outside of the bottom of the dome.

Now, place your ribbon around the edge making sure that half of the ribbon is on the outside of the dome.

Now, run a bead of hot glue or white glue inside the edge of the Coke bottle dome.

Fold the ribbon over and press inside the dome. This will create a beautiful and finished edge to the candleholder.

Now, cut off any excess ribbon.

You can glue anything you want to the outside.

Once the glue has dried then tie a great ribbon around the mouth of the coke bottle. You can insert you tapered candle and the homemade Mother's Day gift is complete.
