Susan Cabot Biography
Susan Cabot was born Harriet Shapiro on July 9, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts. Cabot grew up in eight foster homes. In later years, Cabot attended high school in Manhattan, New York. At seventeen years of age, Cabot married Martin Sacker. To
make ends meet, Cabot illustrated children's books as well as being employed as a singer.
Cabot's debut into film was in the 1947 movie, "Kiss of Death" with Karl Malden. She soon signed a contract with Universal-International. In 1950, Cabot appeared in the adventure film, "On the Isle of Samoa". The next year, Cabot appeared in the films, "The Enforcer" with Humphrey Bogart, "Tomahawk" with Rock Hudson, "The Prince Who Was a Thief" with Tony Curtis and "Flame of Araby" with Maureen O'Hara and Lon Chaney, Jr. This year also saw the end of her marriage to Martin Sacker. Cabot had been for married six years. In 1952, she appeared in the films, "The Battle at Apache Pass", "The Duel at Silver Creek" and "Son of Ali Baba" with Tony Curtis. The next year, Cabot won the role of "Rita Saxon" in the 1953 film, "Gunsmoke". In 1954, Cabot appeared in the film, "Ride Clear of Diablo". Three years later, Cabot starred in movies such as "Carnival Rock" directed by Roger Corman, "Sorority Girl" and "The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent". In 1958, Cabot appeared in films like "War of the Satellites", "Fort Massacre", "Machine-Gun Kelly" with Charles Bronson and "Houseboat" with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. Cabot also appeared in two television episodes of the western show known as "Have Gun - Will Travel". In 1959, Susan Cabot won the role of "Delia Guerrero" in the film, "Surrender - Hell!". The next year, Cabot appeared playing the lead, in another film directed by Roger Corman called "The Wasp Woman". In 1968, Cabot married Michael Roman which produced one child, a son by the name of Timothy who had the condition known as dwarfism. The marriage would endure until 1983. Cabot's last appearance was in a short-lived television show entitled "Bracken's World" in 1970.
