My back groans from the weight of my too-heavy backpack
and from craning my neck to see the frescoes spread across the sky inside the Louvre

My feet ache from wandering miles and miles through the streets of Paris, (I must have walked eight miles today...maybe twenty.)
And from dancing all night in my black and silver shoes...
Les haute chaussures

My face is flushed and pink from walking in the cold grey rain for hours
(it is always raining in Paris...)

My body is drained, my back is sore, my feet hurt, I have a cold from the cold...

I am completely, ridiculously, utterly happy.

Nice memoir, colorfully told. Ah, Paris. ;-)
