In the ancient time, being round and having beer belly are considered signs of wealth and happiness. The popularity of Happy Buddha and Santa Claus are proofs to this belief. Nowadays, a person who has big belly is frowned upon and perceived as someone who is lazy and lacks self-control, unless if that person is pregnant. Maybe that perception has some truth to it.

Beer bellies do not just magically appear overnight. The accumulation of fat in your belly is a result of weeks, months and even years of excessive drinking and eating, and sedentary living. Thus, if you want to get rid of it, you also have to diligently workout for sometime, unless you have budget for melting your fat or having tummy tuck or liposuction.

Most people with beer bellies are also a bit overweight. If you are slender but have a very pronounced enlargement of the stomach, you are either pregnant or suffering from a serious growth or disease. The best way to lose that beer belly is to have a regular and consistent total body workout. Spot training, or concentrating your training in particular muscles, can be effective for people who are already slim and just want to define and sculpt their bodies.

Because people with beer bellies need a whole body workout to trim down their fat, the following exercise equipment are ideal for them:

Treadmill

People in all fitness levels could benefit from the treadmill. If you are just starting your training, you can just do brisk walking on the treadmill. But if you want to burn more fat, you can jog and even run on this exercise equipment. You will surely see your dress size go down and that belly fat slowly disappear with just thirty minutes or more of brisk walking on your treadmill everyday. If you want more resistance, you can buy a treadmill that has an incline. Although the focus of the treadmill is lower body workout, just swing your arms while walking to achieve an upper body workout too.
