Great Summer Family Events in Pensacola, 2007

The U.S. Gulf Coast really comes alive in the summer, which is the "high season" down here, just the reverse seasons in the Caribbean Islands. While winters are mild, the summers are great, and because of the nice Gulf breezes and the great white sands along the stretches from Alabama all the way over the Florida Panhandle, people just go wild for outdoor activities. Many festivals and events schedule their celebrations during the late spring, summer and early fall seasons to take full advantage of the terrific beach area and weather. Some of the festivals draw headliners and visitors from all over the country. They're that much fun.

The Sertoma Club is throwing its July 4^th Independence Day Celebration again this year in Old Seville, Pensacola, FL. It's a rip-roaring event that lasts most of the day, from 11 a.m. to the end of the fireworks at 9 p.m. There's also a great patriotic parade for the old-timers who love them. It's a great way for families to wander around, eat great food and listen to some fabulous bands. But everyone really waits for the grand finale, the impressive fireworks after night falls. Did I forget to mention that this event is free? Every family should come out to this stirring display on our nation's birthday! The Gulf is a perfect venue for this since there are no real obstructions-only the stars and the wide Gulf vista.
