The second Pancreatic Cancer Symposium will be held June 23rd at the New York Marriott East Side Hotel.


The event to educate and increase awareness will be held in New York and you can get more details by going to pancan.org or calling 877-272-6226 in May.

The first symposium was held Feb. 17th in Tampa, FL and more than 160 people from the area beyond enjoyed the day-long event and opportunities to meet others with similar diagnoses.

Several Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) fundraisers will take place in the next few months:

A "Celebration of Hope Dinner and Auction" will be held in Seattle, Washington May 4th. For information, email jmorabito@pancan.org.

On May 19th a Six Flags Charity Day (Coasters for a Cause) will take place in Gurnee, IL. Contact information is vpowley@pancan.org.

June 2nd the Third Annual Elizabeth I. Negos 5K Walk for Hope will be held in Bonita, CA. For more information, email lvillaverde@pancan.org.

On June 16th the Longmont Leap for PanCAN will be featured in Longmont, CO. The contact person is Shawna Busby-Hirman (sbusby@pancan.org). That same day the TeamHOPE Boston 5K Run will be held in Framington, Massachusetts. For details, email smacaudda@pancan.org.

July 24th the 2nd Annual PanCAN Night at AT & T Park will be presented in San Francisco, CA. For more details, email mmonhart@pancan.org.

And on Aug. 12th Chicago TeamHOPE Walk will begin in Chicago, IL. For additional information, email johara@pancan.org.

In unrelated cancer news, over 700 communities throughout the U.S. and other participating countries will hold "Celebrations of Life" as part of the 20th anniversary National Cancer Survivors Day" June 3rd.

In other cancer news, on March 15th Neose Technologies announced that it received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin U.S. clinical trials of an experimental anemia treatment for cancer patients called NE-180.
