Restaurant Review: Sweet Jenny's, the Best Family Restaurant in Ocean County, New Jersey

My family and I have been Ocean County, New Jersey residents for more than seven years. One of the first restaurants we visited in the area was Sweet Jenny's in Barnegat. Since the first time, we have been back more times than I can count. You simply can not find a better family restaurant in Ocean County, NJ than Sweet Jenny's.

Sweet Jenny's appearance is what draws you in first. This restaurant is an actual log cabin. From the outside, it looks cozy and the inside does not disappoint. Furnished with antiques, the interior of Sweet Jenny's is warm and inviting. Vintage collectibles adorn the shelves and walls. Framed prints including Lucy and Ethel at the chocolate factory hang behind the counter.

Whether seated at the counter, booth,or a table, the seating is comfortable and roomy. There is an outside patio with umbrellas that are perfect for warm, summer days. When seated outside, there is a perfect view of the eighteen hole miniature golf course. On Halloween, Sweet Jenny's hosts a night of haunted miniature golf . With eerie music and costumed characters scaring the patrons, it is fun for all ages.

Sweet Jenny's offers thirty different types of burgers. The menu also includes pasta, seafood, sandwiches and steaks. The portions are large and tasty. Breakfast fare includes omelets, pancakes and french toast. There is something for everyone in the family. Even the picky eaters!

Besides the fantastic food, the greatest appeal of Sweet Jenny's is the family friendly environment. This is a restaurant that truly welcomes children. There is a prize machine inside the front door. For two dollars, each child plays until they win. We have given homes to numerous stuffed animals from the prize machine at Sweet Jenny's. Dinner at Sweet Jenny's on Wednesday night is always a treat for the kids, as there is a magician who walks around the restaurant performing tricks. The kid's menu has all their favorites, from spaghetti to chicken fingers. Drink and an ice cream dessert are included in the flat price for the meal.
