Myspace is one of the most popular and widely used social networking sites on the Internet. Many people use Myspace to keep in touch with former high school and college classmates, family, and friends that they may not have the opportunity to spend time with frequently. While Myspace is one of the greatest tools to keep in touch with friends, and post the latest and greatest news in our lives, there are a few things that Myspace users need to know.

One of the most important things Myspace members need to know is how to keep your Myspace account from generating viruses and spyware, which could have a highly catastrophic effect on your computer. The remainder of this article will inform you of three important methods that Myspace account holders can use to prevent your computer from becoming infected with spyware and viruses.

Myspace, as well as many other social networking sites on the Internet, is known because it allows the user to customize his or her own page on the site, even though the user may or may not possess great technical knowledge that is part of web design. There are many websites that offer free code for literally tens of thousands of different Myspace page backgrounds, graphics, and personality quizzes. The hazard in using some of these free source code sites is that some of them are breeding grounds for some types of computer spyware and computer viruses.

There are a few simple steps that you can take in order to avoid putting your computer at great risk for spyware and viruses that arise from the code contained in your Myspace page. Before you even begin to customize your Myspace page, look around the millions of profiles contained on Myspace. On almost any given Myspace page, there is a sentence that says, "I edited my Myspace profile at_____________." Look around and find some of the more common source code sites that people have used to edit their Myspace page. The more commonly used Myspace profile editors are considered to be safe from causing unwanted spyware and viruses on your computer.

Takeaways
  • Learn which sites are the safest ites to obtain myspace graphics before you design your Myspace page
  • Don't open any unfamiliar messages on myspace or accept friend request from unfamiliar people.

These are great tips for those of us that are new to MySpace and who are not versed in methods of designing a profile layout. I am glad I checked this site out before I got started rather than after I got stung with a virus or spyware. Thanks.
