Teachers, students and parents will love the web site BrainPop.com, where kids will love to learn, because teaching is done with a fun and unique approach: kids watch movies to learn! That's right, kids watch movies - animated movies - to learn science, health, math, English and other subjects.

What do kids like? Movies! Yes, you'll find few kids who will turn down a movie in favor of reading, but that's okay, because what they don't know is, they're learning as much from one movie as they would from reading a short book.

Movies on BrainPop are designed to grab a child's attention and hold it. The characters in the movies, Tim and Moby, are animated friends that discuss subjects like History or Technology. Other featured characters, like Gary and gary, make the movies interesting for kids. After viewing the short movies, kids can take a pop quiz which shows how much they've learned on that particular subject.

BrainPop offers a way for home school teachers to step away from the classroom setting for a few minutes, while the child still learns, and believe me, the child won't complain! He or she can watch short movies at the computer, take quizzes, and have loads of fun.

Parents and teachers can relax knowing that BrainPop movies are aligned to state standards. You can even search for movies that correlate with your own state's standards, by grade. Choose state, grade level and subject, then BrainPop will show you a list of movies that meet your state's standards.

Although there is a fee connected with using BrainPop, you'll find it an invaluable tool, and you'll also receive a free trial. Although the free trial won't allow you complete and total access to the site, for two weeks you can check out the choices, watch some of the movies, and determine whether or not the movies will work in your own home school setting.

And, starting May 1st, BrainPop will be available for Juniors and will also be available in Spanish. You'll save money by signing up for the Combo Subscription which includes the regular BrainPop movie selection, Juniors, and the Spanish version.
