The Best Way to Save Money on Back to School Supplies

The children will be heading back to school soon and you are eager to by their school supplies. If you are anything like I am, then you are probably going to try to find the cheapest ways around getting your children's back to school supplies.

Last year I waited for the Sunday newspaper to come out to see what all stores where offering the best and cheapest prices on school supplies. I found out that stores like Wal-Mart where the cheapest places to shop.

My children are into the more expensive items that they like to purchase from the mall. I made a compromise with my children. If I could buy their basic items from Wal-Mart, they could get their backpacks and binders from the mall. They agreed so we both won this battle.

When shopping for school supplies, it is best to wait until the week before school starts to start packing up on school supplies. The downfall to this is that there may not be much left. My solution to the problem is to purchase a few items beforehand and then wait for everything to go on sale and stock up because you are going to need them.

I will usually buy enough items to get them started a few months before school starts and then I purchase extra stuff after they go on sale. If you wait for the items to go on sale, you can get items such as notebooks, at dirt cheap prices. This will make you cringe if you seen the prices before they went on sale.

The paper is a great place to start. The Sunday papers are the one that would usually have all of the back to school items in them. I would shop around, and shop wise. I have found it easier to find it easier to find places that are around each other so that you are not wasting your time or wasting gas by going back and forth across town, which can be exhausting and costly. Clip the sections that interest you and take them with you so that you can compare prices at the places that you will visit.

actually this year, over the summer we looked at the paper and every week or so staples had a sale. and that was in like july/august. we bought pencil sharpeners and folders for 1 cent each! we got there on the last night so there was no limit. a week later, we bought lined paper for 15 cents each! A set of composition books (2) was only 69 cents. And those cute folders with the argyle print and the puppy ones only 99 cents. My idea is to buy over the summer.
