What do you think about steroids in baseball? Athletes and performance enhancing drugs do not mix. Some athletes in baseball are using steroids and nothing is being done about it. The Major League Baseball Organization is still letting the athletes play baseball; unlike the NFL, where once you get caught you get suspended.

Well in baseball, it's a whole different story. I think the players in baseball should be banned from playing once they test positive for steroids. There's been talk all over the media about Barry Bonds, who has done steroids. Bonds plays for the San Francisco Giants. He shouldn't be playing at all and the hole-run records that he broke, which was Babe Ruth's, should be taken away from him, but he is still playing baseball. What is wrong with this picture? He has an advantage over the good baseball players who don't take steroids. It's very unfair. If he was playing in the NFL he would be suspended.

There has been a drug store in Florida found that has been selling performance enhancing drugs to athletes. What is this telling our children that play sports, especially baseball? That it's okay to take illegal drugs and cheat in order to win the game? Athletes know the consequences; they just want to cheat, like Barry Bonds. I have interviewed several Drake students. I asked them if they think that players should be banned if they are caught using steroids.

Andrew Tilly said, "I think that players should be banned for the least two years and have them retested before going back into baseball. If they fail the second time they should be banned from the MLB for life."

I asked Diane Willis if she thinks players deserve a second chance if they are caught using steroids.

Her reply was, "No, they shouldn't get a second chance and they should be banned from playing baseball because steroids are harmful to the human body."

I asked Erica Jurdic, "If you were part of the MLB organization, and found out that one of the players tested positive, what would you do?"
