I admit as a newer AC producer I find there is a lot to learn. I not only have to sharpen my writing skills, but I also have to learn how to market myself in new and creative ways.

There are certain common themes I find floating around AC. One of those is the constant request for people to DIGG each other's articles. I didn't know what a DIGG was at first and I had to do a little research to find out and understand there are dozens of social book-marking sites on the internet, DIGG being a favorite.

I signed myself up on the DIGG website and went forth to DIGG all of my own articles. I then made a new conscious decision to DIGG every article I liked written by a fellow AC producer. This turned out to be harder than I thought and started to turn into a peeve - I couldn't figure out why every single article I was reading didn't already have at least ONE DIGG.

Folks, to get someone to DIGG your articles, you must first DIGG it yourself!

First of all, if you don't DIGG your own article first, you are opening yourself up to a potential problem. The first person who submits an article to DIGG is the one responsible for writing the description caption that is going to accompany your article on the DIGG website. Considering the description is the first thing a person sees upon finding your article on the DIGG website, I'd think you would want to be sure the description does your article some justice.

If there are no DIGGS on your article, the general public may wonder whether or not this is a work you take seriously enough to promote. If there is not a DIGG on your article already, you severely limit the chances of someone taking the step to make the first DIGG. This is not only because it appears you don't care enough to promote your article, but also because of the above-mentioned point: having to write the description. I may LOVE your article, but if it's not a topic I'm fluent in, I don't want to be responsible for writing the description of your content (nor should you want me to!)!

Interesting article. Since I am Newer to this site, I will go and do just this, and see if it helps my articles get noticed anymore.

I agree in full with the reasoning behind your views. Now to figure out how to find the time to digg all of my 400+ articles...

Thank you! I honestly didn't know what the "diggs it" was for other than showing you liked an article.

I think digg is a little too narrow in its categories for my articles :)

Great article! I try to digg just about every article I read, but I also try not to get too carried away as some people say the've gotten kicked off of Digg for digging too much.

Digg is a scam through and through. Only articles they want to have succeed do so - unless you know the right tricks to basically subvert their system.

Hrm, I was uneasy about digging my own pieces as well. Thanks for a different perspective. I've got a bit of thinking to do!

Hot DIGGity Deborah, you hit the nail on the head! As a recent digger, you totally explain why I'm on the right path as I go about promoting my content online. Keep up the good, insightful writing work.
