Everyday foods of the natural variety have medicinal qualities and can prevent, treat, or even cure, some of harshest diseases plaguing us today. Natural foods are a blessing to us all and the way they work within our bodies is really quite fascinating. Many of the diseases today could've been prevented by better diets.

This article is the first in a long and helpful series that can show you how to better care for you body. Each segment will discuss another key issue and help you understand more about the foods in an everyday diet and how they will work to optimize your health and heal what may be wrong with its functions.

Foods That Heal: Berry Special Foods

These tasty little treats are nature's source of a special acid. It is called ellagic acid. While all berries contain this special formula there are some that have an abundance of it. The property of this compound is spectacular, it fights cancer.

For those of us who are somewhat medically educated we know that cancer has to do with cellular changes. Berries can change all that. There are two berries that contain the most of this healing property and they are strawberries and blackberries.

The acerola berry is not widely talked about or discussed. But to those who live in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico, they not only know of it they have an abundance of this little berry. It is said to be one of the most richest sources of vitamin C in the entire world. Vitamin C, as we all know helps build up our immune system and prevents serious illnesses like cancer and heart disease.

Foods That Heal: Dreadful Deficiency

There are so many deficiencies with everyday diets today, but not to worry, there are foods that can heal them. Deficiency does not come with swiftness as some may think. It is actually a long process that starts with children. If our children are used to only eating specific foods then this problem has already started. By the time they reach adulthood they may have a series of diseases as a direct result.

So glad berries are on the list! Blueberries and black raspberries have some great property too but I forget what it is.
