A Great Place to Stay in Interlaken!

The Hotel du Lac in Switzerland is a prize received only by those who find out about this extraordinary hotel and book it. If you are one of the lucky ones, the experience is unforgettable. When I left this hotel, after a three-night stay, I felt like a member of the family. I will return here anyti

me I revisit Switzerland and the Bernese-Oberland region.

The hotel is located in Interlaken, Switzerland, with the specific address of 225 Hoheweg. It is directly across from the train station, and along the river Aare, a narrow strip of the water between two lakes, Brienzersee and Thunersee. Many would choose not to stay at this hotel because of its location next to the train station, assuming that the noise would interrupt the tranquility of the area. This is not the case, however. Just request a room on the other side of the hotel, next to the water. Many would choose to stay at the most expensive hotel in Interlaken, but I recommend otherwise. This hotel is at its best, with culture and history, family ownership, and friendly dedicated service.

Why Stay Here...

I spent a great deal of time researching which hotel to choose for my stay in Interlaken. I was planning a five-country Europe trip (which is a mistake), and had two nights planned for Interlaken. I knew we wanted to stay here so we would be able to take excursions to the mountaintops and visit Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn. Jungfraujoch is the highest mountain peak in the area, and has an ice palace, observatory deck for looking into the valley below, and gift shops and restaurants. The trip from Interlaken is 2.5 hours one way by train. Schilthorn is another snow-covered mountain peak, where the famous Piz Gloria restaurant is located, featured in the James Bond Movie "On her Majesty's Secret Service." The restaurant revolves a full 360 degrees, slowly, as you sit and eat your meal. It is reached by train and then bus and then cable cars, and is also about 2.5 hours one way for the trip.
