In this Macromedia Fireworks Tutorial I will show you how to create a wild looking blue picture frame. Please see the image that I have provided to see the ending results of this tutorial. I could not find a name for this frame but it was really wild looking and at the same time, cool looking. Open your Fireworks program and we will get started. How to Create a Wild Blue Picture Frame in Fireworks
Step 1 - Create a New Canvas
First, we will need to create a new canvas to work on. Go to the top of your Fireworks window and click File > New or press CTRL N to create a new canvas. Create your canvas 500 pixels by 500 pixels. You can crop your canvas at the end if you need too. Select the canvas color that you need and click the OK button.
Step 2 - Draw the Frame using the Auto Shapes
Next, we will draw the picture frame. If your Auto Shapes window isn't open then go to the top of your window and click Windows > Auto Shapes. When the auto shapes window comes up, click the brown frame in the window and drag it to your canvas.
Step 3 - Reshape the Frame
You will need to reshape the frame the way that you want it. You will also need to drag the corner of the frame outward to make the frame larger. The frame is pretty small when you drag it to your canvas. You can reshape the frame by dragging the yellow diamonds. I made the middle of my frame wider and made the border smaller.
Step 4 - Apply the Gradient
Next, we will apply a gradient to give it the frame that wild blue look. Click on the frame to select it. Then click the Solid box in the Properties window. When the box drops down, click Gradient > Folds. Then click the Color box beside the gradient box to change the color. You will see a box called Presets. Drop that box down and select the Cobalt Blue preset. Click off of the box to close it.
