Wendy's: Many Locations, Wonderful Frosties
The fast food restaurant franchise Wendy's, is the brain child of founder Dave Thomas. He opened the first location in the beautiful town of Columbus, Ohio in 1969.
It was created to ensure that hippies who had values of "Free Love, Peace, and getting ridiculously high," would have a place to satisfy their drug induced munchies. There are now over 6,000 locations worldwide, and they are a competitor to gourmet restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, Arby's, The Greasy Spoon, and Road Kill Cafe.
From their web site www.wendys.com, I learned a lot about Dave Thomas. They have a picture of him when he was 8 years old, which shows him in a flannel shirt. These are from his days spent in a log cabin, where he spent his humble upbringing with his Aunt Jemima. His adoption as a child inspired him to do great things, so he served his famous hamburgers to military men in the Korean War. After his service, he opened lots of Wendy's locations, and spent his free time helping out with adoption causes. He had more success with adoption than Woody Allen did, and he sadly died in 2002.
The legacy of Dave Thomas continues with his restaurants, and I've been an occasional customer over the years. I was hungry after fighting with Black Friday shoppers the other day, so I stopped by for one of their world famous combo meals. There are a lot to choose from, and the prices are very reasonable. I decided to order the Original Classic Combo, which is their basic hamburger, french fries, and a soda. It cost $6.00, with the additional payment to the Commonfilth of Virginia's Royal Governor, and there were some positives and negatives associated with the meal.

Wendy's competitors include McDonalds, Burger King, Hardee's, and many other fast food restaurants aiming for budget and/or time constricted consumers.
