What's Happened in the Last Four Years Has Changed the Nature of Our Nation

The United States has always had its flaws. Then again, you can say every country has it's flaws some more than others. The situation here that is different than in times past, is that The United States has more flaws than almost any country in the world. Before you get your dander up, understand so
mething here. I love my country. I spent 21 years in The Untied States Army. Thank God that I did it when you could still be proud to be in the Army.

That wasn't always so either. During the Vietnam War I had a hell of a time trying to come to grips because of what we were doing then. At least I could kind of understand it. The thing about Vietnam was that it was a series of bad judgments and foolish pride. Bad judgments on how we got involved there in the first place after the French left, and foolish pride that made us stay to try and make things right long after it was time to leave. Everyone from the lowest Private to Richard Nixon was a victim in Vietnam. Not so Iraq.

Iraq was a calculated gamble that we could bluff not only the citizens of the United States, but everyone else in the world into believing that Saddam was a world threat. True he was not a nice man, but he was no world threat and the Bush Administration knew it. After no WMD's were found, it was another bluff that became; "We are fighting so that they may be free". The truth then was that we were fighting for our own selfish reasons. Oil, and all that comes with it. It makes no matter that we could have bought all the oil we needed with the money we spent on this war. That's something that just escapes the criminal minds that run this country.

  • The US has spread itself too thin. We now permit some forms of torture. Rendition flights
  • have taken people to Syria to be torture. There were no WMD's.

A really good take...those who have lusted for power and profit and self-righteousness have driven America far away from what she ideally should be..
