Solutions for Creating Childrens' Play Rooms

I have a background in painting murals and decorating kids' rooms and am full of ideas. I
n this article I will answer some decorating questions for children play rooms. If you have any questions of your own, please do not hesitate to ask.

Question:I want to create a playroom for my kids on the first floor of our home, but I do not know which room to use. I have a living room and dining room in front of the house, with a family room and office in the back of the house. Which room should I use and why?

Answer: While idealistically, it would be easier if your children's playroom were the room you used the least, it should actually be the room adjoining the one you use the most.

If you spend a lot of time in your kitchen, then an adjoining family room should be transformed into the playroom and you can make the dining room or formal living room into your family room. The reason is that you want your children to play in a room where you can observe them. Every year, children die because they are injured while playing in a bedroom out of the eyesight of parents. Therefore, if you want to create a playroom for your children, you should put it where supervision will be easy and natural.

Question:My children's playroom is in full view of visitors to our home. How do I design it so it is pleasing to the eye?

Answer: Placing a playroom in plain view can be a challenge, but and it can be fun. If you have young children in your home, there is no need to be ashamed of toys and bright colors. There will come a time when you wish there were still toys underfoot, and clowns on the wall. Still, here are some ideas for an aesthetically pleasing playroom.

Organization: Create an organization system to ensure that every toy in your play room had a place where it can be easily put away. You can use a wall shelf system with baskets, or you can place the items behind cabinet door.

Color: Keep it simple, use a color for your playroom that coordinates with adjoining rooms and halls décor, but try to make it a bit festive. If your halls are light green, or red, then paint the playroom yellow. If the surrounding rooms are ivory, choose a festive green color.

When choosing the room to use for your childrens play, make sure it is near the center of household activity so they can be monitored.

You are so right about having the children in view of the room you use the most. I know that's the kitchen for me. Unfortunately, I currently cannot see my children's room when I am in the kitchen (which is a lot) so I give them some toys and have them play at the opening of the kitchen, but not actually on the kitchen floor, while I cook.
