No matter what the situation, if an African-American is in trouble with the law or is facing public scrutiny Al Sharpton won't hesitate to take their side. Everyone has an initial impression of the situation, which at times can cause them to become prejudice to the situation, but in many cases the a
verage person will either withhold judgment or look for facts to support their opinion of the said situation. Al Sharpton seems to lack the second phase of thinking and goes directly into spearhead-mode, in which he spearheads a movement that instantaneously takes on racial qualities. Quite simply, this is why I can no longer stand him.

Though Sharpton has taken on causes that the entire world can agree with, his blind-nature has caused him to lose vast amount of credibility, especially in recent years. The most important thing to keep in mind is to ask the question: "What has Al Sharpton done for the progression of African-Americans in the United States?" In my eyes, from New York City where he is most active, absolutely nothing. In fact, every time he opens his mouth I cringe for what might come out of it. All of the good that he has done has been squandered by his brash, need-to-act nature.

The most notable event was with the Duke Lacrosse players who were accused of raping a black stripper. Sharpton was quick to stand by the side of the alleged victim, which was understandable, but he also went out and did little to nothing to observe the immediate facts that alluded to a story that differed from what the evidence told. There's a fine line between a civil rights activist and someone who hops on any bandwagon where race might play an issue. Sharpton blurs this line with a regular basis and has a tendency to leap right over it.

I commented on this a while back and I still come back to read it when I get pissed off. This is a video on youtube that everyone...black, white or otherwise should watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IacEfYr9xNk

You know what I read most of everything on this site and I find some things interesting here. One comment made above by Neland Ave. that I would like to comment back. This slavery issue occurred 100 years ago. For god sakes GET OVER IT...that was a 100 years ago. If you're people are not getting what they want they get out of this country. No one is telling you to stay here. You have a choice and if you don't like what happend 100 years ago then move out of this country and live elsewhere or tolerate it. You can't change what happend in the past and you say the whites owe 40 acres to your people? I laugh at that. Life goes on and the world will go on. Black people want everything in this world and let me tell you this generation doesn't owe anything to black people these days. We weren't living back 100 years ago so GET OVER IT! Again if you're not happy here then move out or get out!!

I am embarrassed for Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson. The nation as a whole has outgrown their nag, nag, nagging about a tired subject that everyone is tired of. Number one: White may not make you right, but black don't either! Number two: When are racist statements made by non whites going to be called "RACIST" and third, i am tired of apologizing for my color (non black) and i wish the winds of change would get done blowing and expose them for the racists they are.

I think i love you! Recently i was wathing an ABC show and there was a racial comment made by a black actor about whites: "come on girl, im black and your mexican. Lets not talk around this like a couple of dull white people!" I'm thinking well this is a twist...civil rights of course...Where the hell is Al Sharpton the civil rights activist? yup ..he is for blacks only which makes him the ultimate racist.

things seems to get worst because people like al sharpton can't move on and stop crying race...where is that black stripper that almost destroyed the dukes...where is her apology?? Its not going to happen...its people like al sharpton that give blacks a bad name..when he comes on TV I change the channel he makes me sick...get over it al this is the 20th century if they can't do the time don't do the crime.

HubaHuba: The only reason Jesse Jackson runs around calling people who are in a position of power racist is because if he didn't have the ear of some in the media (I am an old newspaper reporter from years ago) he would drop off the radar screen.

HubaHuba: The problem with Al Sharpton is the problem with the country. According to Sharpton, everyone is a racist except him. Following Sharpton's career - killing lynching of Don Imus he is now after TMZ.com for referring to Beyonce Knowles fashion presentation, and calling her "Roboho." He is calling TMZ.com 'racist.' I've looked at the photo, and she doesn't look like Little Miss Muffit. My problem with Sharpton stems back to the Don Imus controversy where he referred to the Rutgers University women's basketball team as "nappy - headed ho's." To make a long argument short if Sharpton was as pure as driven snow, and had the credibility and character of Mother Theresa then he would have a leg to stand on. But, he is a person who must destroy another person career in order to be considered a political force in the United States. Sadly enough, Barak Obama backed Sharpton, asking for Imus' resignation. And he wants to be President of the United States.

First off, let me say that I am a liberal Democrat.... and I think Al Sharpton is a joke. He is the joker of the Democratic party, our village idiot. I used to have respect for the man, but now the things he says are just laughable. Sometimes I agree with him, but most of the time I just feel like I am listening to a comedian with an agenda.

Yes, the world needs people to scream out loud when necessary. The point was Al Sharpton has come to scream out loud when unnecessary.

The world needs Al, Geraldo, and Gloria...Just not so much of them. As for the Duke Lacrosse Players, forget what Al said, it's horrible what the DA did. It is proof that the corruption in the criminal justice system has really gotten out of control. It's no longer poor whites and minorities. It's sad that there is no one to advocate loudly on their behalf. Their story should be in the media until they clean up the system. That's why I say the world needs people like Al Sharpton, to scream out loud when necessary.
