Every year the population of senior citizens increases. Those people whose age is 50 and above, or 65 and above, are considered seniors and with their age comes equivalent perks and benef
its that many establishments and services offer.

Senior citizens, just like the younger generation, have needs that establishments and services offer. Just imagine the sales and income opportunities that these companies have if all of them will be able to tap the interest of seniors and how they can help attract other customers in return. For seniors, it is the best opportunity to save on dollars while enjoying a purchase or two. It is actually a win-win situation when both parties are favored and benefited in the process.

There is only one sure way of availing a senior discount and that is to ask the establishment or service representative if they offer senior discounts to their patrons. For example, if you are planning on eating in a fine dining restaurant, it is best to research or ask your friends if they were able to avail a senior's discount from a particular restaurant you have in mind.

You may also call your favorite stores, like the local pharmacy you are buying your prescription drugs from, and ask if they offer discounts particularly for seniors. And while you're at it, ask how much discount they offer. The most common discount offer is from 5-10%, but this usually varies from one establishment to the other.

Make sure you know your eligibility for a senior discount because some establishments or services offer senior discounts only to folks 60 and above. Some offer to seniors 65 and above. It actually depends on the establishments' policies on what age cut-off is eligible when giving discounts and promos to seniors. The key is to ask whenever you see fit to avail a discount.

If you are a senior, or your loved ones for that matter, are interested in taking advantage of the senior discounts available, the best way to know your eligibility is to ask the business establishment if they are offering one. There's no harm in asking anyway, right?
