Group one: Spiders, clowns, heights. These are all normal fears. Group two: Vampires, werewolves, aliens. These are all abnormal fears. Sadly, my fear belongs in group two. No, I'm not afraid of werewolves, Dracula or Marvin the Martian. It's much sillier than that. Zombies. Yes America, I fear the
undead. I'm terrified that numerous corpses will rise from the dirt, head straight for my house, burst through the front door and munch on my brain. I understand that this isn't logical. It can't be explained. Wait...maybe it can.

It all began years ago. I was eight, and my sister was seven. She told me about this hilarious movie that she had seen the night before.

"It's so crazy, Julie. It's about people coming back from the dead and hunting people down, and eating them! Isn't that insane?" she asked me.
She seemed pretty okay with the idea of this movie. I, on the other hand was not cool with it.
"Can't it really happen? Was it based on true events?" I asked her. Maybe terror really does start at home.
"You're so Gullible, Jules. It would never happen here. China, maybe. Don't freak out. It's only a movie." Those were the words that I would repeat while dealing with my fear of the movie, 'Night Of the Living Dead'.

As soon as my sister left the room, I ran for cover underneath my mom's blanket. I felt as if I had been left out of some huge secret. Once my parents got off from work I demanded to know the truth.

"Tell me the truth. Can the things that happened in that movie, happen in real life?!" I screeched.
"No, don't worry about. Your sister should not be telling you things like this." My mom tried to comfort but it didn't work. Although, I did get some pleasure out of the fact that my sister was punished for scaring me. But much to my horror, I had a nightmare that night about zombies.

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER KNOWING THAT I'M NOT ALONE. I ONLY WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO END MY PHOBIA ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I know what you all mean im afraid also but of anyone slow drunkereds and old people with their skinny arms and and bones showing i don't know what to think. im always dreaming of being chased by zombies and running and alone. i think it started when i was 5 and i saw thriller for the first time i was horrified i remember feeling so abandoned for the girl and someone she trusted Mike was one of them too. but there's a wierd attraction also i have to see all the zombie movies made i have to see them even though it makes me scared it's that feeling of being alone and depending on other people to make it through that feeling i get from the movies are what keeps me watching them why i need help

I thought I was the only one who had this. I sometimes find myself writing stories or drawing picture of them and I get more scared. I even saw a movie where they even explained how zombies can happedn and then I got more freaked. And it sucks because in the movies no one survives and i find myself having dreams where everyone i know is dead and i have to kill some familiar faces taht are zombies.

i have a huge irational phobia of zombies and its a source of amusment for everybody. i cant watch any horror films because of it.just in case theres zombie like creatures. i cant even watch Sean Of The Dead even though its a very funny film.i went to watch I Am Legend in the cinema because in the book there vampires and i can deal with that.i even had people screen the film, for me.and when i saw it i was so scared i couldnt move.i was litraly frozen to my seat with the fear.a few years ago my friend and i went to watch Haloween and before we bought the tickets i had to check therte where no type of zombies in it.there was a trailer for one of the Resident Evil filmsand i hid under the chair with both my hands over my ears. everybody finds it embarising and highly amusing but its a huge fear. i get sweats and i start to shake,my eyes dilate,my heart starts to race and i have trouble breathing.and i get nightmares for weeks.i cant even look at pictures of zombies. i think it start

Yeah! I have the same phobia- type thing going on. I watched Dawn of the Dead, and played the video game Dead Rising, everything i did was zombie related. I couldn't stop thinking about it for a year or so. Haha, everywhere i went I'd look for weapons to use if there was possibly a zombie outbreak. I had zombie nightmares for about 4 weeks straight. The thing I'm most terrified of is a zombie plague, where people turn into zombies; instead of just dead people waking from the grave. Don't get me wrong though, I'd still shit my pants if i saw some dead guy get up from under the ground. Oh, i am also a germophobe, i dont know if that has anything to do with this phobia, but if anyone else is, i guess it does.

i have the same dreams! They get me so scared i can't fall back asleep. I need my windows locked and door with the blinds shut. It's like dawn of the dead plus 28 days later/weeks. I am always looking at another family but i always lose my mom and she ends up dying. The dreams are so vivid and bloody. the last one i had was last night, it was like I AM LEGEND and everyone in my town was hiding from the zombies and trying to kill them by hitting them in the head with bats and guns.

yea, i have this 2, and people make fun of me for this. but i cant help it. i get terrified just thinking about the movies my friends make me watch. i mean, they literally sit on me to make me sit there. i actually punched one person in the face for it and then ran away. does anyone else have nightmare of zombies in one particular place? like i always dream that they are right across the street from my granny's house

i'm so glad i googled this shit. i also have a terrible fear of zombies that started 2 years ago. it happened almost instantly after watching the movie's 28 days later and 28 weeks later. even tho they are GREAT movies and i even went as far as watching them again i was FREAKED out to no end. i didnt get a minute of sleep that night either and to this day i try to find any exuse that i can to not go out at night. not alone at least. i figured maybe over time i would drop this crazy phobia but its been 2 years and now i'm not sure it i will ever shake it off. maybe i need some help i dont know

i have a similar fear. i do not count it a likehood or even a possiblity but the idea of zombie apocalypse scares me tremendously. it isnt i think itll happen it would just suck so bad if it did. i also often conjure up plans for survival just in case and ppl make fun of me for it. at the same time i adore zombie movies...odd. perhaps the fear lies within us...what is a zombie? at its core just a human stripped of rational thot and left with only istinct and by exposing ourselves to the idea we are forced to see ourselves as animals robbed of all but the desire to live. often ppl are forcedto kill lved ones in zombie films...this i think adds 2 the fear. perhaps it all leads to a feeling of loss of control...sort of like ppl with OCD which i also suffer from...connection?
