Known as "The Black Widow" in Dallas, TX Sandra Camille Powers Bridewell, infamous scammer, finally was captured and arrested recently in North Carolina.
Notorious for whirling through people's lives like a tornado, a relative of her latest victim was the one who helped police lower the net.
Jim Moseley was part of a three-week roller-coaster sting to help capture the woman who took advantage of his elderly mother financially.
Once self-identified as "a bag lady," Bridewell had big aspirations - all at the expense of others.
Nicknamed "seductress of the saints" by one local paper, Bridewell was once a beautiful Southern belle who earned various nicknames after the death of three husbands and a female best friend.
"In her earlier years, Bridewell relied on her charm and sex appeal to weasel money from men," said writer Glenna Whitley. "This time a woman brought about her downfall, albeit inadvertently."
Whitley reported that a kind-hearted person had seen Bridewell outside a grocery store with her belongings stuffed in paper bags.
Bridewell was mysterious from the beginning, according to Whitley.
Bridewell moved in with Moseley's mother on Labor Day and stayed six months, research shows.
"At first Bridewell was helpful around the house and drove Mrs. Moseley around town," wrote Whitley. "The two women were driving around one day in January when Bridewell pointed out several houses that would be a great location for the training center she wanted to open to teach 'natives' from Third World countries organic farming techniques."
Dennis Krueger and Jack Vereen showed Mrs. Moseley and Bridewell around several expensive homes.
But the agents got suspicious, writes Whitley.
"I knew something was wrong with this girl, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what," Mrs. Moseley said.
Vereen couldn't quell his skepticism.
"Vereen and Krueger called me to explain what was going on and to ask if I thought Bridewell was dangerous," reported Whitley. "When the day of her mission trip arrived in early February, Bridewell drove Mrs. Moseley to Charlotte to stay with her son while Bridewell was overseas."
