Summer may be still a few months away, but you might already be making plans about what to do, where to go and how you might support yourself during this season of leisure. If you are, look no further than the New Jersey shore. That area along the Atlantic coast from Ocean County to Cape May County is an attractive option for winter weary east coast folks, looking for opportunities to soak up the sun in a fun filled and activity packed region.

Of course when most people think of the New Jersey Shore, they think of Atlantic City Casinos, the Boardwalk and the ocean. In fact most people might be tempted to think that this region has only summer or part-time jobs in the hospitality field and so might be only looking for jobs in the hotels, restaurants or as a lifeguard. Although the jobs are plentiful in these areas, you might also want to think about some of the following alternatives.

Banks - With an influx of traffic, banks actually need additional part time helpers. If you like the financial sector, are good with money and have good customer services skills think about the bank as an option. In fact so many of the region's banks have offices on the New Jersey Shore, if you enjoy the experience, you might want to consider a transfer to another branch when the summer is over and you return to college or back home. For example, Commerce Bank offers full time and part time positions for Head Tellers, Assistant Head Tellers and Customer Service Representatives. Sun National Bank also offers opportunities for full time summer tellers.

Event Security - The New Jersey Shore comes alive with concerts, sporting events, conventions, festivals and all kinds of organized events during the summer. If you are at least 18 years of age with a clean criminal background, this could be your opportunity. Some of the places that typically would need this kind of help include the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the Atlantic City Convention Center and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. Training will be provided for qualified hires. The company handling protective services for these venues is Strike Force and training is provided for qualified hires.
