Barnes & Noble Receives 500,000 Advance Orders

If there's one thing you can count on from Harry Potter, it wouldn't be his upcoming death; it would be his ability to break records. Today, Barnes & Noble released information stating that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows had broken all of their previous records for pre-ordered bo
Harry Potter Continues to Break Records
oks. Barnes & Noble has had an amazing 500,000 copies pre-ordered from its stores. Why is this such a big deal? Well, as any Harry Potter fan will tell you, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows won't hit bookstore shelves until July 21st, around 100 days from now. Yet readers are willing to pay for their copies now and wait. Will the wait be worth it? Only time will tell.

This is nothing new for J.K. Rowling, who has been breaking records for several years now. Not only do her books top bestselling lists, but she was also the first author to become a billionaire. Many people wonder if this money has gone to Rowling's head as she continues to push forward with her choice to sue auction giant eBay. Some see this as greed, while others see this as a way of protecting children from fraudulent copies of her work. Regardless of whether or not Rowling is greedy, one thing is for sure. Harry Potter has grown larger than she could ever imagine.

Not only is Barnes & Noble surprised by Rowling's ability to continue to break records, but so is the world. People who aren't familiar with Harry Potter wonder why these books are so successful, while anyone who has read a Harry Potter book will tell you that Rowling will continue to break records as time goes on. It is almost guaranteed that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will go down in history and one of the most important children's books of all time. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has already been listed as one of the most memorable books in the past 25 years.

  • 500,000 copies ordered from BN.
