Disney Partners with Make-A-Wish to Raise Money for the Charity

Want to rub shoulders with Johnny Depp? Parade down Disneyland's Main Street, U.S.A. with a bevy of celebrities as the press snaps your photo?

You can. For the price tag of $1500.

The Walt Disney Company, in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, will be making tickets available to fans of the multi-million dollar film series in order to raise funds for the charity that prov

ides wishes to children with life-threatening diseases. In the past, Disney has partnered with the charity to make the dreams of many children come true by providing trips to their popular theme parks.

With a goal of $3 million dollars in mind, tickets will provide holders the opportunity to, of course, enter the park, attend a buffet supper at a private "Pirates party" in Frontierland, Adventureland and New Orleans Square as well as reserved seats for the presentation of the film on a giant screen built over Disneyland's Rivers of America.

Disney has held the last two premieres for the Pirates franchise inside the Disneyland park as fans wait on foot for over twelve hours to see the stars, directors, writers and producers of the series walk down the red carpet. Past events have drawn such celebrities as Marilyn Manson and California governor, Arnold Schwartznegger.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was the top grossing film of 2006. The series has spawned additions to the theme park ride which birthed the film series and in-park characters based on Johnny Depp's famous pirate caricature, Captain Jack Sparrow, now greet fans just as Disney's other popular characters regularly do. Fans of the series have already made plans to camp out for the entire day to attend the premiere, many returning for a second or third time to the Main Street's red carpet.

The event will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on May 19th. Tickets are already available by visiting Disney's Pirate Premiere site. As in the past, the park will close early to regular guests to accommodate the premiere.

In the meantime, the author of this news piece will be waiting for her invitation by one of those lucky enough to be able to afford a spot.

Wow, that's really cool. Now if only I was rich. Actually, I probably still wouldn't do it only because I'm sure there will be lots of people there and lots of people make me claustrophobic. Still sounds like fun though.
