rcise no matter where we go in America, and even if we left the Earth and flew off into space—what would we concern ourselves with—you got it.--diet and exercise and making sure that your heart is pumping your oxygen as best as possible. The question is though, what do you actually do to accomplish better physical fitness, to achieve an adequate workout for your health and stamina? Maybe you are amongst the thousands who are already involved in some fitness programs and enjoy a treadmill, a lifecycle and some weight lifting at your local gym and are looking into options for home gyms. Or maybe you are amongst the thousands who are sitting at home and thinking of maybe taking a walk or a jog around the block ---tomorrow. The thing about exercise is that there are enough types of new equipment available today to make physical fitness something that everyone can achieve, and achieve with pleasure and even enjoyment. Of course, exercise can just be part of your natural everyday routines—while you are at home walking up and down stairs, or cleaning your house and garage or indoor pool. And today, neighborhood gyms have popped up everywhere, offering camaraderie, classes, and a place to work out away from your refrigerator—or desk. But more and more people are looking into and selecting equipment to use right in their own house with home gyms. Why? Many very good reasons. You can exercise no matter what time of day, and no matter what the weather. Takes away a lot of excuses, right! For most people who are looking for the easiest way to exercise, treadmills for home use are the answer. What can machines do for you in your own house that you can’t do in gyms? Well you don’t have to be self-conscious about whatever or however you exercise. You can make all the noise and faces you like, stand whatever reading material you wish on your machine, turn on whatever grabs your true attention on a TV in front of you, blast whatever music gets you going, and wear your old baggy clothes (or nothing at all!) What a way to focus on yourself, feeling free, while getting your physical fitness. And then, if you are looking for what would be the best treadmill for your own personal use at home, you’ll need to be aware of a few things about these user-friendly machines. The best treadmill for you will depend on your price range, your space, and the attributes you’d like. Here are a few pointers: - Choose a model that has a wide enough belt for you to feel comfortable on and one that is long enough for your stride - If you plan on running more than walking, consider at least a 1/1/2 horsepower motor. - Better units will have some type of cushioning between the belt and bed, and this is something you want if you jog or run on the machine. - There are two broad categories of motor-driven treadmills. One usually found in department stores are usually priced in the $300-$600 range. Most of these are felt by experts in the field to be best used for walking rather than running. The second group begins around $800 and runs upwards to several thousand dollars. They are found in specialty fitness stores and designed for serious use and come with variety of features to consider. - Features to consider about your machine include: - Speed control-can it go from a slow walk to at least 10 MPH which is a 6.00 pace? - Elevation control-is it accessible from the main panel while you are in motion? - Programmability- does it have pre-set programs, or can you program it with ease? - Heart rate control - What is the reliability of the unit and motor, and the maintenance requirements? - Size and weight- How much space will it require? Does it fold for storage? How much weight will it support?
