It's Not as Hard as You Think

Our society is obsessed with losing weight. Every time we turn on the television, we are inundated with commercials and infomercials about a new weight loss program. Or a new diet pill designed to help peopl
e lose weight. It seems like every time we turn around there is a new fad diet, whether it be low-carb, no carb, protein shakes, the miracle pill, and a myriad of other quick weight loss products. It can be mind boggling.

Unfortunately, none of them work in the long term. Initially, the weight will come off really fast. But as soon as you stop taking the pills or go off the diet, the weight comes back on. And in most cases, you gain even more.

There is only one true way to lose weight. It isn't a big secret, but it is something people have forgotten about. It's self-control. It's the hardest thing to learn, but once you start practicing it, you will lose weight and keep it off.

Here are a few tips on losing weight that differ from the normal diet plan. And they will allow you to lose weight.

Before I begin, let me first say that you should always check with your doctor before starting any weight loss program.

The tips are all related to each other and they really are common sense tips.

1. Smaller Portions- Do not fill your plate like you're feeding an army. The more you have on your plate, the more you're going to eat. So instead of two monster spoonfuls of mashed potatoes, have one regular spoonful. Instead of two hamburgers with everything, have one hamburger. You get the picture. It really is about portioning. This is why programs like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig are so successful. They teach their clients about portioning their foods. They are not specially made foods. It's just smaller portions.

Isn't weird how others countries eat some of the same foods, but don't have obesity problems. We are conditioned to supersize and feast and celebrate with food.
