If you are like me and suffer from allergies brought on by hay fever, pollen, mold spores, etc, then an air purification system is a must have item in your home. No matter what time of year it is, my allergies seem to act up. It wasn't until I bought an air purification system that I started to notice some relief. But what kind of air filtration system should you buy? It seems like there are so many different types available. Let's take a look at some of the differences. One of the most common types of air filtration systems is the HEPA air filter system. In fact, this is the first system I had in my home and it worked quite well. The HEPA air purifier unit uses a uniquely efficient air filter that captures pollens, dust, and other air particles. Most units will also have a second filter made of carbon that will also capture strong odors and mold spores.
The HEPA air purification system has been tested and proven to work well in eliminating harmful particles in household air. Within a couple of days you will notice a big difference in your breathing, as well as your ability to get a better nights sleep.
The major drawback to using HEPA filters is the cost. The filters need to be replaced fairly often in order to maintain their efficiency. Naturally, these filters can get expensive over time if you have to replace them 2-3 times a year. It can be necessary to replace the carbon filter even more frequently.
A solution to the costs of filter replacement systems is getting one that is washable. The air filtration system I now use is similar to the HEPA filter except I can simply wash the filter when it becomes dirty. The unit runs just like the HEPA system except that you don't replace the filter. You can wash it out and use it over and over again. I haven't noticed any drop off in air quality since using this type of system.
