It is hard for anyone to go off to college. There are new experiences to be had, more freedoms, more demanding classes, and just in general new things to deal with. There are many decisions to be made for anyone. Do you want a high comfort level or do you want something totally new
College is a fun place to be and to learn but it’s nice when an institution is made for you. There are nine “Hispanic-Serving,” co-ed colleges in the North East (New England and Middle States) according to collegeboard.com. Boricua College of NY, Mercy College of NY, New Jersey City University, St. Peter’s College of NJ, Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology of NY, and four of the City University of New York Campuses are the nine institutions listed.
“Hispanic-Serving” is a designation from the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). It means that at least one quarter of the population is hispanic. There is a comfort level being with people who are of a similar background and it is certainly something to consider when choosing a college. The list above is composed of four private and five public schools, which leaves a nice mix for students who want to go to school.
