World of Warcraft's Blizzard Announces Blizzcon 2007
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the Blizzcon 2007 gaming convention will take place in August.
Despite earlier reports that there would be no Blizzcon this year, Blizzard confirmed that the convention would take place on August 3 and 4 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
The event is held to celebrate Blizzard's popular franchises of games that include Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. Even more than that the convention is considered a tribute and celebration to the players who play these games.
According to Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, the company is always thankful to fans of their gaming franchises and love to show their appreciation
"We were gratified by the response to our first BlizzCon in 2005 and have been looking for an opportunity to hold a follow-up event ever since," said Morhaime. "With BlizzCon 2007, we plan to deliver another entertaining and informative experience for the attendees, and we look forward to meeting all of them again this year."
The 2007 edition of BlizzCon will be open to all gamers, and they expect to have something for everyone who attends the event. Blizzcon will host a wide assortment of activities including discussion panels with Blizzard game developers, competitive and casual tournaments for players, artist and developer signings, and of course the World of Warcraft TGC tournament and demos.
Also expected at the 2 day convention are costume, machinima, and character sound-alike contests. Commemorative merchandise and other Blizzard game products will also be available to purchase. There will also be a silent auction for serious collectors.
The event will also have a backdrop of Live orchestral performances of music from the universes of Blizzard games.
Tickets for Blizzcon will be available soon at a cost of $100. While that seems pricey, it is expected that many Blizzard fans will be willing to pay the cost.
Further details on Blizzcon are expected soon.
