There has been increasing talk about the possibility of the impeachment of George Bush. This is an action that I fully support, and hope will come true very soon.

We have a President here who has obviously covered up a lot of information about 9/11. He first spent hours giving speeches about why there should not be a Congressional investigation into the 9/11 atrocities. He believed that Congress should not waste time and money trying to figure out what went wrong. When he received an overwhelming response against this, he changed his mind, and allowed the 9/11 Commission to go forward. There was only one other time in which a President tried to block a Congressional investigation. That time was when Nixon tried to cover-up Watergate.

The Commission was set up, only under his direct order. For the first time in history, the President had some control over who would be picked for a Congressional Commission. He chose Thomas Kean, Fred Feilding, Slade Gorton, John Lehman, and James Thompson to be part of the Committee. A simple search as to who these people are will show you that they had major ties either to the current Administration, or strong ties to Bush's father's Administration.

When the President was called to testify, he went through multiple channels to try to get that summons overturned. When he finally realized that he could not get this to go in his favor, he stated that he would only testify under certain conditions.

First off, he would only testify if Chaney was with him. This would give Chaney, the smarter of the two, the opportunity to prompt him on answers. If the President was going to answer questions to the best of his ability, why did he need someone holding his hand?

Secondly, there could not be a public record of his testimony. This was the only time during the hearing where there was not a transcript taken. This was also the only time when the Press was not allowed to watch.

The only reason, in my opinion, that the Democratics haven't pushed for impeachment is because that would leave us with Chaney as the president. And as bad as Bush is Chaney would be scarier yet.

Very good, professional article, and I hate to say that I totally agree with you, I have never been so disgusted or disillusioned by a president before, and there have been many disapointments but this one takes the cake!

It will probably be because some one will come to visit me, and I will never be heard from again.

I am still recovering from the shock that the guy got re-elected, no change that, into office in the first place. Unfortunately he would out of office before he could be officially impeached. But for the sake of history and maybe some people opening their eyes it would be worth it. Thanks for another interesting article. Now if you don't see any posts or articles from me in the next few days, you know where I've gone. :)
