One of the best places to go for drinks and conversation as well as meeting some cool people is Ned Divine's, centrally located right in the heart of historic Quincy Market. Ned Divine's has all the drinks you could want, and is simply a part of the whole building which features the Parris Lounge and Nightclub. It has the workings of a traditional Irish pub, with an upscale twist. The atmosphere is made by hand painted murals, imported Irish woodwork, and ambient lighting. You never feel out of place and the bartenders are courteous and you almost never have to wait for a drink. It's a hot spot though, so it fills up on the weekend early and if you get there late you might have to wait a little while. The wait is worth it.
