The ending

When I was a kid I thought that the coolest thing in the world was to go see a movie on its opening night. Back then I usually did not get to see movies on their opening nights, but now I am older and I can go see rated R movies at 10 p.m.
on Tuesdays, even when I have to work in the morning.

I am probably the only person who has never seen the original version of The Omen. In fact, up until a couple weeks ago I had never even heard of this movie. After I saw Julia Stiles appear on Jay Leno and discuss the show, I could not wait for 6/6/06 to roll around so I could see this movie.

Plot
On June 6, Robert Thorn goes into a hospital to see his wife, Katherine, who is having complications in labor. When he arrives he learns that the baby is dead. Katherine does not know that the baby died so when a priest offers Robert a baby whose mother died in childbirth that same day he accepts the offer. Years go by without any problems, but after 5 years, Katherine starts to think that her child, Damien, is evil. A priest informs Robert that his child is literally Satan's spawn and in order to save himself and his wife, there is a very specific way that he must murder the child that he has been raising as his own.

Cast
I was completely blown away by how well this film was cast. I cannot think of one character that could have been cast differently. I loved everyone. Liev Schreiber (who played Robert) and Julia Stiles (who played Katherine) were wonderful together, I thought they had amazing chemistry. You could really feel the tension between Julia Stiles and Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick (Damien). The only comic relief in this movie was Davey-Fitzpatrick being such an adorable little boy with such an evil scowl on his face at all times. Mia Farrow played an incredibly convincing Mrs. Baylock. Ever since Romeo & Juliet I have been a big fan of Pete Postlethwaite who played a priest who used to be a follower of Satan in this movie.
