A Look at the Unique Seinfeld Reunion Taking Place This Fall
Get ready to welcome back Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer. A show about nothing, or more specifically about four Manhattanites dealing with the everyday mundane situations, as well as a few silly ones, became all the rage in the 90s, making sitcom Seinfeld an undeniable classic. After going off the air in 1998, many didn't know if they'd ever see the cast that immortalized four classic characters, together again. Leave it to Seinfeld co-creator Larry David to reunite the cast 11 years later on his new HBO hit comedy, the semi-autobiographical Curb Your Enthusiasm. Details of the reunion have been kept secret but there are some things any hardcore fans anxiously awaiting the reunion should know.1. It Won't Start Until October
Although Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to HBO on September 20th, the Seinfeld cast - Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards won't be on the show until October 4th. They will be in five of the ten episodes in this seventh season, and they will not always be on-screen together.
2. They're Playing Themselves
Since Curb Your Enthusiasm is about Larry David himself (mostly) he is on the show, as in real life, the co-creator of Seinfeld, meaning the actors, instead of playing Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer, will be playing Jerry, Julia, Jason and Michael. Fans will, however, get to see scenes from the reunion show, as well as the behind-the-scenes action - Larry recruiting the cast, pitches, table reads and shooting. The story-arc itself will coincide with, and play a major role in Larry's quest to win estranged TV wife, Cheryl, back after their separation.
3. This is It
No matter how much fans may wish for a more traditional reunion show, the cast and Larry David agree that this is the only reunion the cast will do, and that's a good thing. Jerry Seinfeld told Entertainment Weekly that "you really haven't seen the whole series until you've seen this, because it does add a coda." Larry David told the magazine, "we stripped away all the negative that would have come from doing a reunion show. Only the good is left."
