I recently had the opportunity to audition for NBC's Deal or No Deal game show when their casting bus rolled into Fort McDowell Casino. I'd never done anything of the sort before and it was quite an experience!

The local news station began airing coverage the night before auditions, showing die-hard fans camping out overnight to be the first in line for a chance to appear on the show. I was not one of them. For some reason I decided that arriving a couple hours ahead of time would be just fine.

11:10 AM
Parking at the casino was at a premium, of course. I didn't even try to get into any of the lots but chose, instead, to park along a dirt side road and hike in. With only my purse and a bottle of water, I trudged down the hill, meeting up with two other women along the way. An older man we passed directed us to the back of line - which stretched around past the adjoining hotel.

We took our place in line, the casino a mere glimpse in the distance. After shuffling along for several feet we reached a sign someone had erected that said "15 hour wait from this point". I looked at my cohorts - five other women now, all standing together and making idle chit chat - and scoffed. Fifteen hours? Surely not! The group of us made a pact - we would wait it out, no matter how long it took. We were each other's support and encouragement and we all had one thing on our mind - to get on Deal or No Deal and win a million bucks, do or die!

12:00 PM
A staff member from Deal or No Deal was making the rounds of the crowd passing out application forms. I was so totally unprepared, I hadn't even printed out the online form so I filled mine out while I was waiting in line, using the hood of parked cars as we slowly inched our way forward. I'm not sure the casting staff could even read my scribblings. The more I tried to fix it, the worse my application looked. Oh well, I thought, as long as my contact information is clear, they can always get hold of me if they so desire.

I would like to be on Deal or no Deal because I would love to take my 5 grandchildren and 3 children and spuses on a Disney cruise vacation. My husband and I have never be able to do anything together for the children and grandchildren. My husband is 61 and I am 57. He has been sick and I would like to do this for all of us. He can't retire yet so this would be something we could all do together. I was a child care worker for 10 years untill my knees had to be replaced and I can know longer work. This would be a chance of a lifetime for me. I even have the people ready who I could bring. They are all ready to go. Also, my 10 month old granddaughter only weighed 1 pound8 ounces when she was born and I want to do something for her, she is in excellent health now by the grace of God. I have another granddaughter who is 5 and 3 grandsons 15-13 and 3. I want us all to be together as a family before everyone grows up and goes their separate ways. Thanks for yor time, I hope I hear from you I

I am from North Carolina. I waited in line for 5 hours this past weekend, the weather was cold and there was rain. I told myself I would survive. When I finally got inside the mall I was sent to a table to tell about myself in 20 seconds or less. Well, I thought I did extremely well, while a young lady next to me brought out a stufffed monkey and said,"I like to Finger paint", "And I like to monkey around". Needless to say the young man sent her to the next round. After the audition I asked the young man who intervied me about himself. He stated he was from Charlotte, NC age 25 and that was his first day, he stated he had no experience in the interview process. My niece also auditioned and he apparently insulted her. Anyway, to make a long story short, my niece talked with a producer of the show who was really impressed, he was very courteous and kind. My point is if a person takes the time to wait and interview at least what the interviewer should do, is learn to listen and take the

Hi I would also like to be on "Deal or No Deal." I am very rich so of course the money means nothing but I would love the experience. I emailed my son and daughter to see if they wanted to go on with me but my son never replied and the email to my daughter was returned for a bad address. I'm sure that my wife would like to go on with me, she is very beautiful, I'll ask her next week when I see her. Maybe my Mother could come too, she is 77 or 78, I can't remember that well since I haven't seen her much since I stuck her in that VA hospital last year. All in all, I think I would be the perfect contestant.
