Wii Sports Resort Review

When the Nintendo Wii was first released, Nintendo was wise enough to include a free game with purchase called "Wii Sports". Wii Sports consisted of Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Bowling and Boxing. It quickly became the most popular game available for the Wii console because of its ease of use and outright fun for all ages. After a couple of misses to capitalize on its popularity, Nintendo finally has hit pay dirt in more ways than one.

Wii Sports Resort is Nintendo's true sequel to Wii Sports and being such, it also includes a free Wii Motion Plus Controller (more on that later) to sweeten the deal. This time, instead of five games, Nintendo embraced the idea of a true resort and has provided twelve different games and has even named their resort "Wuhu Island". The games included the returning Golf and Bowling along with Basketball, Frisbee, Archery, Swordplay, Wakeboarding, Power Cruising, Cycling, Table Tennis, Canoeing and Air Sports.

Any games that have 12 games included there are going to be some clear hits and misses while some will be personal choices of interest. Forget the Canoeing and Cycling - while they are on point in terms of graphics and use, the games themselves hold no interest and well, are more than a bit frustrating. The two out and out most fun are Swordplay and Frisbee. Within the games are different courses and mini-games to choose from. Frisbee Dog has you throwing a Frisbee to a designated area and within the target; your dog catches the Frisbee. Also available is Frisbee Golf that includes both the classic Wii Sports golf courses and the new Wuhu Island golf courses but this time you're trying to throw the Frisbee for that ever illusive hole-in-one instead of sinking that golf ball.
