Prince William and Kate Middleton Break Up

Prince William and long time girlfriend Kate Middleton have called it quits. The couple's split was mutual after almost 5 years together. Earlier this year the world seemed so engrossed in Prince William's relationship and was trying to guess when he would pop the question. The story even made in onto the cover of People Magazine. Speculation only rose when Middleton was seen a Prince William's graduation in a prominent seat with his father and step mother.

England seemed to take to Middleton and most thought she was poised to take on the frenzy that comes with being the future Queen. Unfortunately, friends say that media attention was getting to her. Although she has been "brave," as one friend tells People Magazine, the attention was an ongoing source of problems. Earlier this month she even won a public apology from a British newspaper after it printed a photograph of her heading to work. That suggests that she may be uncomfortable with the publicity that being a Princess comes with.

Since Prince William has graduated from Military school, he has been stretched with his time. This may also be a factor since the couple has rarely been seen together in the last few months. Towards the end of last year they were almost inseparable. Maybe Middleton was ready to take the plunge and Prince William was not? It seems that Prince William may have a stubborn streak. Friends of the couple told People that Will, known for his stubborn streak, won't let anyone dictate a time frame - but also acknowledged an engagement an if but when. Obviously, even Prince William's close friends were confident there relationship was going to the next level. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
