I know this is "Crucify Don Imus" week, but I would like to put his remarks into perspective. I am a black woman and when my hair is not relaxed it is nappy. Now the "ho" remark could only be made by someone who knows the sex life of the Rutger women, but as for me, a big no. A "ho" would be like a late actress who has slept around and has a bunch of men claiming to be the father of the child. It takes a DNA test to solve the mystery of "who my baby daddy?" Or, it is the women on those talk shows who swear up and down it is the guy they bought there and it turns out it isn't his kid.

A "ho" is someone who treats her body like a buffet table for any man to come along and feast at. You know, like the former President's mistress who could only be in a relationship with a married man, and aborted a kid because she did not want anyone to think it was the President's. That tid bit was in her book.

So, in defining Imus got it wrong, but his remark pales in comparison to what these same women allow their "homies" and rappers call them. You know, the "N" word that somehow they think is cute, or the B word that just runs off their mouth to one another in "fun." Here is one black woman who is not laughing, because it is not funny. You cannot have a double standard where if a white man calls you something he is racist, but another person of color calls you that name and you think it is cute.

Don't even let me get started on the fact that these women have cd's of rappers calling them far worse than Imus could even think of. Here are some lyrics that just make the heart go warm and fuzzy(sarcasm).

Ice Cube (If I was Fucking you, War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disc) )

If I was fucking you, you'd be like fuck everybody
Kill, this pussy yours
Washin' dishes, rubbin' floors
Doin' chores for a nigga
Open doors for a nigga
Ridin' shotgun, holdin' forty-fours for a nigga
At the motelly, got you on your belly
In come morcelli
Niggaz calling K-Mac, bitches calling Kelly
Do it like Arthur Fonzarelli, hit the lights
So we can try to reform these potential dites

Although i agree with you on your point of view i felt your writings showed lack of knowledge of the argument and the short length of your article made me think you just wanted to talk about how rappers do this and that instead of trying find a solution on why they say what they say. Also little things like assuming the players owned particular cds and the particular song you choose makes me believe this is just another trendy bash on hip hop article. Important topic just feel like it could be handled better.

I THINK THE IMUS STUFF WAS A BIT OVERBLOWN AS WELL BUT IT STILL NO EXCUSE FOR HIM. RUSH LIMBAUGH SPEAKS WITH ALOT OF RACIAL OVERTONES AS WELL BUT GETS AWAY WITH IT.

Actually Imus did not call the young women 'ho's. He insulted their looks as compared to the other team. "They have tattoo's even...", and McGuirk used the H word whereupon Imus said the phrase. From there they compared the teams to teams in a Spike Lee movie, using yet another word that, coming from a "white" man, was deemed unacceptable. Hopefully the incident will wake up young ladies that do support musicians that use lyrics such as the one you shared.

Right on Sister. I love the Example. I've been trying to tell the young sister this for so long. It's time to Wake Up and Smell the RAP Hype that these rappers are pushing down the throats of our young. PS: Let's keep this blog going

andrea.peyser@nypost.com stole your story about Duke and Kobe. While I think your idea on that one is all wet. She stole your story for todays paper.
