Grandparents Can Be the Best Playmates

My husband and I had taken our children to Lake George in upstate New York before, but, this one particular year we brought my mother along.

We had stayed at this same place each time, it was actually outside of Lake George. The town was Bolton Landing and the place where we stayed was Port Jerry. It had a few different types of accomodations to stay in. There were cottages, trailers, A-frames, and shanties. We chose a trailer type, and each one had a name. Ours was New Moon, it had three bedrooms, a livingroom, a kitchen, and screened patio. Outside the door was a bar b que pit. It was camping with indoor plumbing.

On the first morning Mom and the kids were up bright and early to go exploring. Now first off this is the second surprise of this trip. Mom never explored with us when we were kids, the livingroom fort to that woman was just a sheet tucked into the couch cushions. But off the three of them went, they walked up the hill to the road and found a small mom and pop bakery. They brought back fresh baked croissants and homemade raspberry jam. To this day i've never had a better croissant.

After breakfast we went to the local amusement park, the Great Escape.
Another big surprise was to come soon, maybe the biggest yet.

I heard my son ask " Grandma will you go on the rides with us? " and just as I was expecting her pat answer of " Oh honey i'm sorry I get dizzy on rides ." she answers, " Of course pumpkin. "

At this point of the story I could say this was the best vacation ever with a space alien, but, she sure looks like mom.
