How to Have a Cinco De Mayo Party
Have a potluck. Everyone who is coming to your party can bring a Mexican dish to share with others. Then you don't have to spend a lot of time and energy cooking. Some Mexican dishes are burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, tostados, chips, salsa, tacos and more. You can find easy recipes on the Internet or at your local library.
Decorate your party. Mexico is such a colorful place. Decorate your living room or backyard with colorful decorations. Some decorations include balloons, streamers, banners, party lights and more. You can find decorations at a party store near you.
Dress in Cinco De Mayo costumes. This is a fun way to get everyone into the Mexican mood. Some costumes you can wear that represent Mexico are sombreros, a big mustache, embroidered shirts, a western outfit, flowly skirts and colorful blouses. You can rent a Mexican outfit at a costume store. You can also find many of the items at a Thrift store for real cheap.
Play Mexican music. Mexican music can get everyone in the fiesta mood. Some people may want to even do the Mexican dance. You can buy Mexican music at your local CD store. For a less expensive approach try downloading Mexican music from the Internet.
Play Cinco De Mayo games. For example, a popular game is a piñata for the children. The children take turns smacking the piñata with a bat. When someone breaks the piñata candy falls out. The children rush to grab as many candies as they can. The adults can also play games. For example, a Mexican game adults can play is who can get to the worm the fastest. Have a gummy worm in the bottom of a tall glass. Fill the glass with soda. Then have the adults drink the soda as fast as they can. After drinking the soda they can eat the worm. Whoever drinks the soda and eats the worm first is the winner.
