"Everyone Worth Knowing" is by the best-selling author of "The Devil Wears Prada". Both books follow a similar pattern of one girl being thrown into a life-changing career, only to have it take over her life.

This book follows the adventures of Bette Robinson, a somewhat quiet and reserved girl in her late twenties who works at a banking job. One day on the impulse she quits without a plan. Her uncle comes to her aide and introduces her to Kelly, who is head of a Manhattan PR firm. Suddenly Bette goes from a job sitting at a desk where breaks have to be sneaked, to a job where partying is encouraged. At first, Bette cannot believe her luck - her boss actually wants her to be a part of the club scene and party with VIPs! Her new coworkers think nothing of being out all night and spending money like there's no tomorrow.

Soon, Bette starts to see that she now has no private life - her professional life and her private life are displayed for everyone to see. After getting trashed in a club one night, she wakes up in a strangers bed - none other than the hottest Brit around! Her boss is thrilled when the story is in the paper - no matter that the truth is stretched! Bette is encouraged to continue being seen with this guy, among other hot places in town. The more publicity for the company, the better!

Bette's private life suffers while she works this new job - she is so busy planning parties, clubbing, and being seen with her new "boyfriend" that she puts her family and best friend on the back-burner. As she neglects the ones she cares about, she also neglects herself. She starts seeing some nasty stories with little truth being printed about her, and has no idea who is taking the pictures and following her every move. Her parents are less than thrilled, her best friend is moving across country, and the guy she actually likes is out of her grasp. All the while, she is being encouraged to continue the photo-grabbing behavior!
