Redo Your Boy's Bedroom with a Game Theme
Do you have a little boy that really enjoys checkers and other board games? Don't you think he'd be really excited if he got a bedroom make-over with a game board theme? You don't have to have a lot of money to create the new look; use things you already have or purchase used games atLook first to the games your family already owns. Grab games that have missing pieces since these games are now useless for playing. You can use many of the pieces to create all sorts of new things for the make-over. Look online at auctions or search local yard sales for other games - with or without all their pieces. Everything in the box - including the box - can be used as new decor.
Cards from most any board game - or just ordinary playing cards - can be used to make coasters and more. Laminate each coaster card then glue it to a piece of cork. These coasters can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and will last for years. Do something different with the rest of the cards. Pose some of the cards into a playing-hand arrangement then tape or glue them where they meet at the bottom of the hand. Hang these, with double-sided tape, on the walls. Or, collect quite a few of the same type of cards, like playing cards or Monopoly cards, then create a border around the perimeter of the room.
Cut a slit in the center of one playing card, or a card that's similar in shape, and glue it to a light switch cover. Or, use double-sided tape to display cards on the bedroom door, shaped in a monogram or initial of the child. Glue a card to each area of a sectioned lampshade or outline the top and bottom of a bedroom trash can with the cards. If you laminate the finished can the cards will be protected and the can will have a finished look.
