10. Dear Zachary Trailer

Even though it is technically a trailer, it is included in this list of top ten short films because with a runtime of ten minutes it is not a standard trailer, and it is just as effective as the other short films on this list. In fact, I am not sure any other short film touched me more deeply than this one. The Dear Zachary Trailer highlights the true story of a family dealing with the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of Andrew Bagby, and his best friend (the director Kurt Kuenne) who sets out to "bring Andrew back to life".

09. All About My Dog Marimo

All About My Dog Marimo is a simple short film about the relationship between a girl and her dog, but one in which I think most dog lovers can relate to very well.

08. The Cookie Thief

Honor Fraser and Jack Davenport quietly fight over cookies in this short film which was nominated for a 1999 Golden Palm. There is another version of this story, also entitled The Cookie Thief, on Atom Films. Both short films appear to have been inspired by the poem The Cookie Thief by Valerie Cox.

Another Mary Lynn Rajskub gem, co-starring and co-written with Karen Kilgariff. A short film which takes a humorous look at two girl rockers.
