Disney Unveils New Wedding Gown Line in New York

Wedding Gowns Inspired by Disney Princesses

Designer Kirstie Kelly debuted 34 wedding gowns this weekend for Walt Disney's latest addition in their Disney Weddings arsenal. The gowns, which have been inspired by such Disney film classics as "Sleeping Beauty" and "Beauty and the Beast," range in price from $1500 to $3000.

Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, which are held at a number of locations within their popular theme parks, have become a coveted experience for brides-to-be wishing to have a true fairy tale experience on their special day. Fairy Tale Weddings, which can cost anywhere from $20,000 to

$200,000 (and possibly more), allow couples to have their nuptials performed in front of one of Disney's trademark castles, have Disney characters appear at their wedding and arrive at their wedding in a horse-drawn coach. Disney's weddings have been featured on a number of programs including many Travel Channel and Food Network specials. Kelly's wedding gowns will allow brides to complete the princess experience.

Disney cites that the new line of wedding gowns will be more accessible to couples who are getting married a bit older and are paying for their own wedding. With weddings becoming more expensive and extravagant, Disney has made strides to keep up with the wedding industry which boasts an annual revenue of around $40 billion per year.

Fairy Tale Weddings recently hired David Tutera, award winning lifestyle expert and host of "Party Planner with David Tutera" on the Discovery Home Channel, to produce a Disney Couture Wedding Collection. The collection, which is available exclusively at Disney's Wedding Pavilion at the Walt Disney World Resort, allows couples to choose from a selection of fabrics, floral arrangements, props and furniture designed by Tutera. In the past, Tutera has designed for such clients as Jennifer Lopez, Jewel and Barbara Walters as well as creating events for the Grammys and royalty.

Interesting - I suppose it is SOME girl's dream to grow up to be Cinderella and it is a good marketing idea for Disney to cater to them.

Wow, what a wonderful idea they had. I can see many women and young girls wanted to wear these beautiful gowns. I know I would love to be Cinderella for a day.

It's every little girl's dream to grow up and be Cinderella and get married. It's about time they decided to cash in on this idea. I'd love to be sporting a Disney wedding dress when I get married (hopefully that'll be soon). I'm going to go check out their site right now. Thanks for the heads up!
