Buying items online has become the mainstream. I know that I have bought and sold items on the internet quite frequently. It is just so much easier to order something and have it sent it to as opposed to fighting the crowds at the mall. Unfortunately with the joys of buying online, also comes the pain.

Along with the internet came many online shopping sights. There are bookstores, electronic stores, clothing stores, and the list goes. If you can buy it, you can most likely find it online. You can gain access to newspapers, libraries, and anything else you can think of. You can access everything from A to Z, legal and illegal (unfortunately).

Buying online will is a great way to avoid the major holiday crowds. You simply click a button and a few days later your package arrives. It is great; you avoid the hassles and fuss of shopping in a large mall with inefficient parking. You can even sometimes get a better deal online. For example, on Ebay you can bid for an item, hopefully you can get a good deal. There are two ways to buy on Ebay. First is to bid for the item, the opening bid is usually low, but can go up quickly if the item is hot. While the opening price may be low there is sometimes a meeting price. By this I mean you have to meet a certain price before the seller will consider selling you the item. Another way to purchase on Ebay is to buy the item right. This basically means the buyer will meet the asking price without waiting to bid on it. Sounds great doesn't it. Well yes it is, but there are some disadvantages to buying online.

The biggest disadvantage is the fact that you can not see the item prior to the sale. At a regular store that you can drive to, you can pick up the item and examine it prior to purchase. Online you can not; you must trust that the seller is trying to pull a fast one on you. There are some ways in order to minimize the dangers of buying online. Online stores should have a review section in which the buyers and sellers are allowed to post reviews about each other. This will allow you to see if the person you are dealing has had some problems. These can include scams, false advertising, and poor customer service.
